White's Dumpy Tree Frogs for Sale

White’s Dumpy tree frogs are adorable amphibians that can bring color and excitement to any home.  They can be rather friendly and like to climb, croak, and “ribbit” to their hearts’ content.  White's Dumpy Tree Frogs-like most tree frogs-are nocturnal, becoming very active and vocal at night.  They can grow somewhere between 3”-5”in length (with males being larger) and live up to 8-10 years with proper care.  A happy, healthy frog is generally active at night, alert, has crystal clear eyes, healthy-looking skin, and eats normally while also keeping its weight. White's Dumpy Tree Frog Diet

White’s Dumpy tree frogs need plenty of water in their diet, so keep fresh de-chlorinated water readily available.  They will readily eat crickets, meal or wax worms, and sometimes commercial tree frog food.  Adults eat less than young frogs:  every other day rather than every day.  Vitamin supplements, especially calcium, once or twice weekly help keep your frog healthy.  Do not let your frog come in contact with soaps, detergents, or other harmful, artificial substances.

White's Dumpy Tree Frog Habitat

These guys love to climb and jump, so a large enough habitat for exercise and a tightly fitting lid are a must.  Tree frogs like lots of plants, driftwood platforms, branches to scale, and regular misting to keep humidity up around 75% to 95%.  For substrate, mulch-like substances, coconut fibers, moss, and barks are better than trying to use gravel or man-made turf.  Temperatures needed vary depending on time of day; their habitats shouldn’t get lower than 68-70°F at night and should remain around 78-85 °F in the daytime.  Keep a fluorescent and perhaps a UV lighting system on for 10 or 12 hours a day, as well as plenty of hiding places from the basking lights.  Most tree frogs will live compatibly with other tree frogs of the same species, but not other amphibians.

Are White's Dumpy Tree Frogs Right for Me?

White’s Dumpy tree frogs are cute, fun, and exciting to listen to and watch.  As long as they are taken care of properly, these little frogs can make wonderful companions.  Tree frogs are a little more tolerant of handling than most other frogs and may even enjoy a little interaction every once in a while, as long as one uses protective gloves due to the oils on human skin being potentially harmful and hands are washed between frogs as well as before and after handling the frogs.  Try not to handle them more than you feel necessary, though, to avoid stress.  Also, all amphibians can excrete toxins which can be harmful if they come in contact with your eyes, mouth, or broken skin.  Any amphibious animal is capable of carrying diseases such as Salmonella, so always washing your hands after touching your aquatic pet or any of its habitat items/substances is a must.  For this reason, small children and pregnant women should not handle these pets or their associated items/substances.  Otherwise, they are fairly easy to care for.  If you want a unique pet with personality and a generally sunny, care-free disposition, then this amphibian may be for you!
