About Cavalier King Charles Spaniel:

Like most spaniels, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an affectionate, people-oriented breed that relishes attention. However, they can be stand-offish with strangers. They are alert and vocal like most sporting dogs, but unless you consider getting licked to death threatening, it's not the best choice for protecting your home and belongings from intruders. Because they have a strong will to please and are very sensitive to their owners reactions, they train easily, and to a high degree. A descendent of the King Charles Spaniel, it was crowned as a separate breed with the addition of the word "Cavalier" to the name to differentiate it from its progenitor. It was originally developed by crossing the Cocker Spaniel with the King Charles Spaniel.

Care and Exercise:

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is well-suited to the restrictions to roam of urban life because of its small size, but true to its sporting nature, it lights up during a good run at the local park. Regular walks are also good for keeping the dog in a healthy physical condition.

Recommended Households:

Great for apartment living, suburban or country life. Does well in most settings as long as it gets plenty of play time, affection, and attention.
