Very popular in the aquarium hobby, particularly with reef aquarium keepers, as it is a peaceable, shoaling damsel unlike the roustabout blue and three-spot damsels.  In the wild, these fish gather in huge groups around broad thickets of branching Acropora corals to feed on passing plankton and coral waste.
