Facts and Information
This species is a beautiful blenny that is also safe for reef aquariums. Two male specimens in the same aquarium will not tolerate each other and males often show aggression towards females as well. Prepared foods can be offered, but are unlikely to be taken. Dragonets are characterized by: small, pursed mouths; small gill openings; two dorsal fins; flat, depressed heads; a scale less body; and moving, or "scooting" across the bottom by an undulating motion of the pectoral fins. These little fish are micropredators, prowling the rock rubble and sandy areas in search of small crustaceans, worms and copepods. Strict attention must be paid to providing the proper foods in adequate amounts and ensuring the Dragonet can receive its food free of too much boisterous competition from other fish in the community if these fish are to fair well in captivity.
