There are many color variations of the Ocellaris. Often called the False Percula, the Ocellaris clownfish is easily the most popular of all marine aquarium fishes. It is captive bred on aquatic farms in Florida for the aquarium industry and is readily available. They are very similar in color and pattern to the True Percula clownfish, A. percula. Ocellaris clowns have thinner black margins between the stripes and are not as brightly colored as the Percula clown. They are also much hardier and easier to keep. Ocellelaris clowns are abound in the warm, shallow waters of lagoon areas and are known to form symbiotic relationships with the following anemones: Stoichactis kenti; the Giant Carpet anemone; Stichodactyla gigantea; Merten`s anemone, S. mertensii and the Magnificent anemone, Heteractis magnifica.
