Facts and Information

Also called the Moga Cichlid, Parrot Cichlid, or Nickie in the wild it feeds on seeds, leaves and detritus. Juveniles feed on aquatic insect larvae. Because of the low caloric and nutritional value of its food sources, the Moga has to consume over forty times its body weight in food per year. Mature specimens develop a brilliant jade to turquoise colored head and gill covers and a bronze colored body.
