Red Tailed Shark

Facts and Information

redtail shark

Originally found in the Chao Phraya basin in Thailand and exported in the tens of thousands.  The Red Tailed Black Shark is also reported in the Mekong River basin.  All specimens now sold commercially have been captive bred.  This is one of the few fish known to eat the dark filamentous alga that grows on the edges of plants.  Works wonders in planted aquaria with soft algae control.  There is also an albino variety available that has a bright red tail and eyes.
