While the Blue Ram has a relatively short life span (2-3 years), it is easy to breed and quite prolific. Females are a lot more colorful, a little smaller, and sport a bright pink belly. Males grow to about two inches and have a pennant on their dorsal fin. They normally inhabit the clean and clear forest streams east of the Andes in Venezuela and Colombia.
