Green Phantom Pleco

Facts and Information

green phantom pleco

This species is known by several common names including the Lemon Fin Pleco, Green Velvet Pleco, and the Yellow Spotted Green Pleco.  This fish remains undescribed by science, although it is available fairly regularly in the aquarium hobby and has been for years.  The German aquarium publication Aqualog assigned this fish the number L-200, which it is also known by.  This fish is very secretive and shy, and is likely to quickly retreat to shelter when the aquarium is approached.  Most pleco-type catfish propel themselves through the water by the tail fin, but this pleco almost wriggles across the glass by swishing the head from side to side.
