Found widespread in Lake Malawi in shallow waters. This species is also called the Hump-head Cichlid. The bright blue metallic coloration of this fish with the pronounced nuchal hump makes it resemble a dolphin and is an aquarium keeper’s favorite. The genus name "Cyrtocara" comes from the Greek words "kyrtos" (bent) and "kara" (face).
