Agassizi Dwarf Cichlid

AGASSIZI DWARF CICHLID

Found mainly in the black water streams of Ecuador and Peru. This species is also found in whitewater (around rapids) areas and in clear streams. This is a very small cichild, barely measuring two inches as an adult. Males kept in the aquarium do best with several females (harem style). The genus name "Apistogramma" is from the Greek words "apisto" (uncertain) and "gramma" (graphic signal).
