Continued Care

Uncle Bill's Pet Centers are committed to providing our customers with the healthiest pet quality puppies available and to provide the most accurate information on continued care for those pets. All Uncle Bill's Pet Center puppies receive regular care under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. All Uncle Bill's Pet Center puppies are up to date on initial vaccinations and worming (as appropriate for age and risk factors).

As this puppy's new owner, you are now required to continue with follow-up vaccinations, worming’s and exams that are recommended by the veterinarian. You are also responsible for the costs necessary to complete those vaccinations, worming’s and exams. No one can prevent every problem, so to ensure your continued happiness with your new puppy, Uncle Bill's Pet Centers provides the following warranties:

Free Veterinary Examination

To validate this guarantee, Uncle Bill's Pet Center requires you to take your new puppy to one of our preferred animal care providers within TEN (10) days of the purchase date. Please call an approved veterinarian immediately to schedule your appointment unless prior arrangements are made with an Uncle Bill’s staff member. Failure to take your new puppy to one of our preferred animal care providers within the TEN (10) days voids the entire puppy guarantee. The initial exam will be at no cost to the purchaser.

Any and all tests, heartworm preventives, vaccinations and medications that are authorized by the purchaser are the sole responsibility of that purchaser. Uncle Bill's Pet Center is not responsible for charges incurred for these services. Should you be unable to make this exam, you must contact Uncle Bill's Pet Center prior to the expiration of the 10-day period.

Preferred Animal Care Provider

Uncle Bill's Pet Center has a number of Preferred Animal Care Provider veterinary clinics. They are the multiple Noah's Animal Hospitals in Indianapolis and Greenfield, as well as Hamilton Crossing Animal Hospital (Westfield, IN) and Indian Creek Veterinary Hospital (Ft. Wayne, IN). If you wish to take your new puppy to your own veterinarian for exams or treatments, you are responsible for any and all charges.

Limited 14 Day Health Guarantee

Notwithstanding any other provision, a customer may elect one of the options below under this section not later than fourteen (14) days after the date of sale, if a licensed veterinarian states in writing that at the time of sale the dog was unfit for purchase due to illness, a disease, or the presence of symptoms of a contagious or infectious disease that are extreme enough to influence the general health of the dog, excluding parasites, or the dog has died from a disease that existed in the dog on or before the date of delivery of the puppy to the customer.

Intestinal Parasites

If during the first fourteen (14) days from the date of purchase your new puppy tests positive for an intestinal parasite (roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, giardia or coccidia), Uncle Bill's Pet Center will pay for up to two rounds of the appropriate deworming medications/treatments as provided by our veterinarians.

See information sheet regarding parasites and giardia for additional information.

Hypoglycemia

Uncle Bill's Pet Center's Puppy Guarantee does not cover hypoglycemia since it is a condition brought on by factors that are beyond our (or the breeders') control. If your puppy goes through a hypoglycemic episode, we can help you through it, but Uncle Bill's is not responsible for any veterinary bills incurred due to it. Please call the store you purchased your pet through immediately if your puppy has not eaten or misses two meals.

See information sheet on hypoglycemia for additional information.

Limited 2-year Congenital Health Warranty

Notwithstanding any other provision, a customer may elect one of the options below under this section not later than two (2) years after the date of sale, if a licensed veterinarian states in writing that the dog possesses a congenital or hereditary condition that severely affects the health of the dog or requires either hospitalization or a nonelective surgical procedure; or has died of a congenital or hereditary condition. For purposed of this section, the veterinarian’s statement under this section MUST include:

  1. Customer’s name and address;
  2. A statement that the veterinarian examined the dog;
  3. The date or dates that the dog was examined;
  4. The breed and age of dog; if known;
  5. A statement that the dog has or had disease, illness, or congenital or hereditary condition; and
  6. The findings of the examination or necropsy, including any lab results or copies of the results.

For purposes of this section only, a customer who satisfies the fourteen (14) day or two (2) year requirements described immediately above, may elect to do the following:

  • If the dog is alive, retain the dog and be reimbursed for reasonable veterinary fees for diagnosis and treatment of the dog, not to exceed the purchase price of the dog.
  • If the dog is deceased, be reimbursed for the full purchase price of the dog; and reasonable veterinary fees associated with the diagnosis and treatment of the dog, not to exceed the purchase price of the dog.

Limited 2-year Congenital Hip Dysplasia Warranty

If during the first 2 years from the date of purchase your new puppy should be diagnosed as having debilitating hip dysplasia, Uncle Bill's Pet Center will, at our option:

1) At our discretion, pay veterinary costs, never to exceed the purchase price of the puppy, to correct the defect, if possible, OR

2) Refund the purchase price of the puppy, all registration papers for that puppy returned to Uncle Bill's Pet Center, OR

3) Replace the puppy with another puppy of equal or lesser value, all registration papers for that puppy returned to Uncle Bill's Pet Center

Uncle Bill's Pet Center, upon consultation with our veterinarian, retains the right to determine the definition of “debilitating hip dysplasia”. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by the X-rays of the hips specifically for evaluation of the hips, pertinent medical records and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian. Upon request, X-rays can be returned after our veterinarian has had a chance to evaluate them.

Entropion/Cherry Eye

Uncle Bill's Pet Center's Puppy Guarantee covers Entropion and/or Cherry Eye under the provisions of our limited 14-day health guarantee. Uncle Bill's Pet Center does not consider Entropion or Cherry Eye as congenital birth defects. However, certain breeds whose faces are flat, whose noses are short or breeds with facial skin folds are more likely to exhibit these conditions. These breeds include, but are not limited to, Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels, French Bulldogs, Pekingese, Pugs, Puggles and Shar Pei’s.

Luxating Patella’s

Not all cases of luxating patella’s (“loose kneecaps”) are considered to be a debilitating congenital defect. Additionally, many small breeds of dogs are more naturally inclined to exhibit luxating patella’s due to their body type (size, shape, breed conformation) and age. These breeds include but are not limited to Boston Terriers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels, Chihuahuas, Italian Greyhounds, Maltese, Papillion’s, Pomeranians, Poodles and Yorkshire Terriers.

Uncle Bill's Pet Center, upon consultation with our veterinarian, retains the right to determine the definition of “debilitating luxating patella’s”. In order for this warranty to be valid, all claims must be accompanied by the X-rays of the knees (if taken) specifically for evaluation of the knees, pertinent medical records and a written statement from a licensed veterinarian. Upon request, X-rays can be returned after our veterinarian has had a chance to evaluate them.

See information sheet on luxating patella’s for additional information (only included if luxating patella’s has been indicated on the initial Uncle Bill's Vet Check In sheet.)

Deciduous Teeth/Base Narrow Canines

Many small breeds of dogs are more naturally inclined to retain their deciduous (“baby”, “primary”) teeth. Due to the variability in age of deciduous tooth loss, Uncle Bill's Pet Center does not cover the cost of removal of these teeth.

It is impossible to determine at 8-10 weeks of age if any malocclusions will create a debilitating issue. Uncle Bill’s veterinarian will NOT accept debilitating malocclusions if present when performing a pre purchase examination if believed to be a significant issue in the future.

Companion Pet

Uncle Bill's Pet Center provides puppies solely for the purpose of a companion pet. There is no warranty expressed or implied that you will be able to use the puppy for breeding or showing purposes (including, but not limited to conforming to the height and weight of the breed standard). Provided parents weight is for reference only and does not guarantee the weight of your new puppy. You should not purchase a puppy from Uncle Bill's Pet Center if any of these uses are important to you. Due to concerns about pet overpopulation, and to be compliant with the latest state laws you will need to spay or neuter your pet when a licensed veterinarian specifies the best and safest time to do so.

Registration Papers

Uncle Bill's Pet Centers sells puppies registered with different dog registries, the most common one being the American Kennel Club (AKC). Registration papers are available for pick up eight (8) weeks after the date of purchase. The person individually registering the puppy is solely responsible for all registration and transfer fees. (Average registration and transfer fees range in price from $15 to $50). Not all puppies sold at Uncle Bill’s are eligible for registration due to being an F1 generation mix or designer breeds.

Uncle Bill's Pet Centers will send the registration application papers directly to you for an additional fee of $15 via certified mail. Otherwise, someone from the Uncle Bill's Pet Center from which you purchased your new puppy will contact you within that time frame.

If you have not received your registration papers by that time, feel free to call and speak to the manager of the store. Uncle Bill's Pet Centers will guarantee registration of puppies up to but not to exceed three (3) months after the date of purchase.

Uncle Bill's Pet Centers will not pay any fees due to late registration.

Special Circumstances

Uncle Bill's Pet Center realizes that there are circumstances under which you may not be able to keep your new puppy, such as allergies, compatibility and/or housing restrictions. However, if you have other animals in the household, you acknowledge that there will be a period of time to acclimate a new member of the household and may not be instant love and take the time to appropriately introduce your new pet.  Because of these unforeseen circumstances, Uncle Bill's Pet Center will allow a puppy to be returned with the following fees to apply:

  • Notwithstanding any other provision, a customer may return a puppy for any reason within three (3) business days of the original sale. The puppy MUST be returned within 72 hours (three business days which includes Saturdays and Sundays as our business is open for those days) for a 10% (ten percent) Quarantine/ Administration Fee of the original purchase price.
  • Any cash refund will be issued to the purchaser by company check within fourteen (14) days of the transaction. Credit card refunds will be processed at the time of return.

Financed Returns

If you have FINANCED your puppy and/or related products with a third-party lender you will be required to PAY the above-mentioned restocking fee PLUS any opened or used products with cash or credit card ONLY at the TIME of the return, with no exceptions. The restocking fee and opened or used products CANNOT be financed.

Merchandise Returns

Refunds on other merchandise will only be for items unused and in their original packaging.

General Terms and Conditions

1) Uncle Bill's Pet Center is not responsible for any payments of veterinary fees for examinations, drugs, X-rays, laboratory testing or any other treatments unless agreed to by us in writing, prior to the performance of such services.

2) If the need for necropsy arises, the cost of the necropsy is the responsibility of the customer. Uncle Bill's Pet Center will reimburse the cost of the necropsy if the cause of death is found to be congenital and the necropsy is performed by a licensed veterinarian.

3) This guarantee is null and void if the puppy exhibits signs of abuse or neglect.

4) The puppies at Uncle Bill's Pet Center are fed a premium dog food, correct snacks and chew items. In order to ensure their health, we require that the puppy stay on the recommended food, snacks and chew items during the 14-day health

warranty period.

5) If you are eligible for and select a refund or credit under the provisions of this warranty, you must return any registration or registration application documents for this puppy that have been delivered to you.

6) Uncle Bill's Pet Center is not responsible for the treatment of any pets in the household other than the ones listed under this Limited Warranty. Puppies, like children, are able to transmit illnesses to other pets. Taking a new puppy to your

home may put your other pets at risk for illness.

7) These guarantees and warranties are given in lieu of all other warranties either expressed or implied. No other remedies or warranties which extend beyond the preceding terms and conditions are valid.
