Persian Kittens for Sale

This breed originated in Turkey, the same home of the Angora long-haired cat, bred with some of the ancient cat breeds of Italy.  It even became a favorite of Queen Victoria and her royal following!  The Persian is quiet, even-tempered, affectionate, and easily adaptable to apartment living.  Persians, like all cats, are deft hunters despite their stocky appearance.  Persian cats, coveted in the early days of importation for the long coat not typically seen on the European domestic breeds of cats, are known for their laid-back, easy going temperaments and portly build.  These cats are just as agile as their svelte relatives, but their heavier bone structure and wide, flat heads gives them an appearance of nobility.  Their coats, while thick and long, are quite lustrous and soft.  Persians will enjoy lounging about in sunny areas of the home, and may exhibit strong spurts of energy when they feel like playing!

A Persian's Specific Needs

Because of this breed's long coat, daily grooming with a brush or cat comb is highly recommended.  If the coat becomes a bit tangled, you can sprinkle a bit of cornstarch or baby powder on the coat and gently work it in.  Proceed with grooming as usual with gentle, even strokes with the grain of the coat from head to tail.  Take good care of this cat’s coat because it occasionally mats and keep its face clean to prevent tear stains.  Since this breed is not known for its high level of exercise, the caretaker must also take steps to ensure that weight and exercise is maintained closely to promote good health.  While they may enjoy playing with their caretakers, interactive toys, and explore their domain, the caretaker will most likely have to make efforts to keep this breed exercising on a regular basis.  Most cats preferably live indoors with a moderate (40 to 55%) humidity and temperature range (67 to 75°F).

Is a Persian Kitten Right for Me?

The Persian breed can go from a docile disposition to an extremely active playmate, making this breed great for lounging and for playtime fun!  Besides the nutritional, exercising, and grooming requirements this breed can be fairly easy to care for.  However, if anyone in your household has any strong allergies, particularly to cats, it may not be suggested to take home a Himalayan cat.  On another note, they are very easygoing, sweet, and affectionate cats.  The Persian may make friends with just about everyone and anyone they meet!
