Facts and Information
A common aquarium fish as a juvenile, they are slow to grow to the adult size of fourteen inches. Squirrelfish are secretive and shy, and often hang out under ledges in deep water during daylight hours. During the night, they migrate into sea grass bed areas to feed on crabs, shrimps, snails and echinoderms like brittle stars. Avoid exposing these fish to bright lighting conditions as it causes them great distress.
