Facts and Information
This angelfish is beautifully colored, but may require the knowledge of an experienced marine fish keeper. It can be secretive and shy. In the wild, this fish feeds on sponges and tunicates and frequents waters often deeper than 140 feet, taking refuge in grottos and caves. For some reason, still unbeknownst to most biologists and hobbyists, specimens from the Red Sea are hardier, larger, and more brightly colored than their Indo-Pacific counterparts. If you are lucky to come across a Red Sea specimen of the Regal Angel, the rate of success of adapting to aquarium life will be significantly greater than one from Oceania or the Indian Ocean.
