Using magnetic technology the impeller floats inside a magnetic field, which reduces heat, friction, and general wear. This means a longer product life, consistent performance, and less energy consumption. This also led to other innovations such as flow control, refiltration, and AquaClear's CycleGuard.

AquaClear allows users to adjust their water flow with water control, as well, to a specific water type or volume. When fish might need a little more or less water movement during certain times like feeding, this is a particularly useful attribute. It can reduce flow intake by up to 66% without compromising filtration efficiency.
When a reduced flow is chosen, AquaClear has a patented refiltration system that re-circulates the water through the filter media to optimize performance through increased media contact time. That way, up to 50% of the water in the filter chamber is circulated multiple times to ensure biological stability and a clean, healthy tank.

There are 3 forms of filtration provided through this system via the CycleGuard Versatile Filtration - mechanical, biological, and chemical. When one type of media gets replaced using the multiple filtration inserts, the media balances out to maintain biological filtration.
The AquaClear filters also extract the entire potential of the container so that the whole filter's volume is fully utilized. Filter media capability is maximized by the filter media baskets, and it prevents water by-pass to allow easy removal and installation of filter inserts. The natural waterfall design provides efficient water distribution and optimal oxygenation on the surface.
