Seasonal shopping blitz doesn’t lower value of service

FORT WAYNE – Shopper Joe Dumas isn’t a fan of holiday hoopla.
“Instead of creating a riot atmosphere, why not just have the sales all day long?” asked the 43-year-old Fort Wayne resident, who frowns on early-bird specials and other Christmas promotions.
“I don’t go to those (holiday) sales. Stores should just order more merchandise and put it on the shelves. They’d still make their money.”

Indiana Included In Pet Food Recall

CINCINNATI, OH., (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- The Kroger Co. is recalling select packages of pet food in 19 states, saying the products might contain aflatoxin, which poses a health risk to pets.
The company said in a statement it is recalling select bags of Pet Pride Cat Food, Pet Pride Kitten Formula Food, Old Yeller Chunk Dog Food, as well as Kroger Value Chunk Dog Food and Kroger Value Cat Food. The products carry expiration dates of Oct. 23 and 24, 2011. MORE...
Dogs Have Bigger Brains Than Cats Because They Are More Sociable, Research Finds
ScienceDaily (Nov. 28, 2010) — Over millions of years dogs have developed bigger brains than cats because highly social species of mammals need more brain power than solitary animals, according to a study by Oxford University.
For the first time researchers have attempted to chart the evolutionary history of the brain across different groups of mammals over 60 million years. They have discovered that there are huge variations in how the brains of different groups of mammals have evolved over that time. They also suggest that there is a link between the sociality of mammals and the size of their brains relative to body size, according to a study published in the PNAS journal. MORE...
